Pikmin 3 (Wii U) - Review

This is my first review that's not an MLP episode review, so I'm basically going to be talking about the game's plot, graphics, modes and how the Wii U Gamepad helps with game play. (This isn't going to be the same for every game review I do.)

Pikmin... one of my favorite game series! Definitely in my top ten favorite games of all time! I never really had the chance to play the earlier games, but Pikmin 3 I think was the best game in the series (so far).

Plot - So, our story starts off with three intrepid adventurers on their way to a planet called PNF-404 (or as I call it, Planet Pikmin!) The reason? Because their so greedy back on their home planet that they ran out of food. Their mission? To find as much fruit as possible and gather as many seeds so their race won't die out. But something terrible happens; their ship crash lands and the 3 adventurers are separated! The captain, Charlie, is tossed into the snowy wasteland known as Distant Tundra and finds strange creatures, the Yellow Pikmin, the captain's right-hand man, Alph, lands in the sunny land of the Tropical Wilds and the third wheel of the adventurers, Brittany, lands in a forest area part of the Garden of Hope.
I don't want to spoil anything so I'm just gonna leave it there. :)

Graphics - The graphics in this game are so spot-on! The color is just awesome, and the plants and wildlife are just amazing! I love the way how the artists put paint pots, watering cans etc. to fit the garden-like theme!

Modes -

  • Story mode: You basically do everything I put in the plot (and all things afterwards.)
  • Missions: Complete various missions within a time limit. (2 player co-op too!) (More missions can be bought from the eShop.) I really enjoyed playing this mode but it did get a little hard.
  • Bingo Battle: (2 player VS) Race against your opponent to complete a line on your bingo card! I've only played this a couple of times but it's really fun!
Wii U Gamepad features - I know a lot of people say that in most of the Wii U's games the gamepad is completely useless. But not in Pikmin 3! You can use the gamepad to view the map on whichever area you play on, view data files you pick up, (the yellow thingies) to see enemies you've come across, to view fruit you've collected and to see your Pikmin's stats!

This is one of my favorite games for the Wii U and I highly recommend if you have a Wii U and you don't have Pikmin 3 you should get it!

I hope you guys liked my review of Pikmin 3, next I will be reviewing Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)! Also leave suggestions for other things I could review!
